Our Services:

Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD)

Precision underground installations with minimal surface disruption.

What is HDD & Why it Matters

A steerable, minimally disruptive drill that pushes a hole along a planned path. Preserves roads, driveways, parks, and yards, often shortening project timelines and reducing overall costs.

Case Studies

Case Study in HDD

Fort Wayne International Airport

The Project: Fort Wayne International Airport Parking lot upgrades (complete overhaul of existing parking system).

The challenge: Avoid hitting any of the numerous utilities located underground.

K&H’s role: Run the conduit for fiber for the new parking systems via Horizontal Directional Drilling (vacuum excavation, restoration, related services also included).

The result: K&H performed in excess of 50 public and private utility locates and kept the general public safe (All work was done during airport operating hours.)

Case Study in HDD

Purdue Fort Wayne Parking Garage

The Project: Purdue Fort Wayne Parking Garage 1 OSP Pathway and Fiber Optics

The challenge:

1st: Avoid hitting any existing pre-stressing tendons (thus, compromising integrity of parking garage structure).

2nd: Furnish and install pull boxes for every 180 degrees of bend (pull boxes were backordered months out, due to Covid.)

K&H’s role: Get fiber into the mechanical room of the parking garage for current and future parking garage surveillance cameras.

The result: K&H performed numerous utilities locates with the assist of a 3rd party and completed the project with no strikes. K&H was able to utilize existing supplier relationships to procure the needed pull boxes to keep the project on schedule.
