Case Study in Concrete Work & Structural Foundations
Fort Wayne Fire Department
The Project: Fort Wayne Fire Department Training Facility Roof Replacement.
The challenge: Removing an existing structural concrete roof and pouring a new concrete roof five stories in the air. To ensure our crews stayed safe during work, we had a scaffold platform built on all four sides of the building.
K&H’s role: Demolish the existing roof on top of the five story Fort Wayne Fire Department Training Facility prior to forming and pouring a new concrete roof.
The result: K&H successfully removed the old roof (took pieces down by high lift) and poured the new roof via concrete pump.

Tower Shelter
The Project: Tower Shelter Set on private property
The challenge: To access the tower where the shelter would be adjacent, K&H had to first demolish and rebuild a bridge. The existing bridge was not approved by the project engineer to support the weight of the shelter that would need to be hauled over it. Since this was on private property, K&H also had to manage the relationship with a property owner who needed to get back and forth to her house each day.
K&H’s role: K&H successfully demolished a large portion of the existing bridge, reconstructed a structurally sound bridge and transported the tower shelter over the new bridge.
The result: The tower shelter was set and a new bridge was created for this project and for the future.
